Bert W. Walker, 53, Expires Early Today Bert W. Walker, 53 years old, 718 Easy Beverly street, succumbed to heart trouble this morning at 5:45 at General Hospital following an illness of one year. He had been in the hospital three weeks. He was born in New York and was married to Mable Mandrall in Ohio in 1929. He had lived in Pontiac 11 years, coming here from Flint. He was an employee of the Pontiac Motor Division. Beside his widow, he is survived by four children, Rose Marie, Dorindavell, and twins, Barbara Irene and Byron Iven, all at home. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 PM at Farmer's Funeral Parlors with Rev. E.W. Henley of the Second Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The body is at the funeral parlors.

Obit probably from Milroy Newspaper FOUR SCORE YEARS AND THREE Had Mrs Watson Somerville Lived When She Was Called Home Saterday. Funeral Held Monday Afternoon; Burial In Milroy Cemetary Miss Nancy Lee was born in Kentucky, Dec 25; 1826, and was called to her final rest on Oct 2, 1909, aged nearly 83 years. She was united in marriage to Watson Somerville Jan 26, 1852 and to this union were born eight children, two sons who died in infancy and six daughters, Mary McDaniel, Rushville; Lydia Bosley, Emma Sommerville, Adi Clark, and Sallie Riche, Milroy; Cora Michael Washington. The two sisters Adda and Emma have had the entire care of their mother during her long illness. Besides the daughters she leaves her aged husband, a brother John Lee who has made his home with her, a sister Mrs Ella Dale, Los Angeles, Cal and four grandchildren, Paul McDanial, Ray, Fern, and Edna Riche, to mourn her going, besides a host of other relatives and friends. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church all her life, living up to its teachings to the best of her ability. Her life was devoted to her family. She was a woman highly respected by all and of sterling character. Her patient endurance of suffering during her long illness was a valuable lesson to those who visited her. Mrs Somerville has been in poor health for more than four years, but was not confined to her bed until last February. She has been a patient sufferer, anxious and ready to answer the Masters call, yet willingly abiding the time when he should summons her home. She had been almost blind for four years. This summer a great desire possessed her to be able to see her children again. She prayed earnestly that her eye sight might return to her, and about two months ago the desire was granted. Her eye sight came to her, so that she saw as good as she ever had, but it lasted only about four days. During this time all the children except Mrs Cora Michel came home for to see, and it was a joyous occasion for the aged suffer to see their faces again even if for only four days. Since then she has been totally blind. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the house conducted by Revs Baldridge and Patterson. Internment in Milroy cemetery. The floral offering were beautiful. Obit probably in Indianapolis paper - Killed As He Waits For Train To Pass Youth Standing on Tracks Struch by Another - Cousins Leap Waiting for one train to clear a crossing at South East street and the Belt railroad last night, James Michel, 16 years old, 302 Lincoln street, was struck by another and killed instantly. With Elbert Riche, 17 years old, 802 Prospect Street, and his brother Earl Riche, 15 years old, young Michel, their cousin, was returning home from Garfield park. The three youths were walking north on East street but were halted by a train crossing the tracks. They were standing on another track when a Big Four freight train boung for Matton, Ill., approached on the same track. Elbert Riche seized his brother by the arm and pulled him out of the way and shouted to Michel, but the latter apparently did not hear and was struck. Rites for Rail Victim The funeral of James Michel, 16, of 302 Lincoln street, who was killed by a train Tuesday night at the South east street crossing of the Belt railroad, will be help at 8:30 tomorrow at the Voight mortuary and at 9 in Sacred Heart Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. The youth was graduated from Sacred Heart high school two weeks ago. He had been a member of the school's basketball team. Surviving him are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michel, and two brothers, Eugene Michel and John Joseph Michel. Her father B.F. Thomas was born in Rush County his mother Lucy Jones died at birth. He was adopted by Frank Riche he married Sallie Sommerville and had three children. His family came from Standhurst Scotland. Sallie's mother Nancy Lee was one of the Lee's of Virginia (1826-1910). Her father Watson Sommerville (1825-1910) also a Lee from Virginia. Nancy was his first cousin. There were Methodist. Fern married Charles on Dec. 26, 1916. Charles and Fern and the first two boys James and Eugene were converts to the Catholic Church. John was the first born Catholic in the history of either family.

Obit from either Milroy or Rushville paper MRS. D. W. M'DANIEL EXPIRES Born in Tipton and Resided in Rushville for 43 Years Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McDaniel, age 73 years, wife of D. W. McDaniel, died at the family residence, 518 West Third Street, Tuesday night at 10:15 o'clock after being in failing health for the past four weeks with cancer. The deceased was born in Tipton, Ind., but had lived in Rushville for 43 years. She would have be 74 years of age next month. Besides the husband, who is a Civil War Veteran, she is survived by one son, Paul McDaniel of this city, and a step-daughter, Mrs Edna Riggs, also of this city. Four sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Lide McCorkle of Milroy, Mrs. Charles Antrobus, Mrs. Matthew Michel, and Miss Emma Sommerville, all of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at the late residence Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in charge the Rev. H. W. Hargett, and burial will be made in East Hill cemetery.
Napoleon Man Found Dead with Face in Water of Muddy Gutter Napoleon, March 1, Mr. Benedict Michel, age 77, was found dead in the gutter near Mrs. Mary Slater's place in Napoleon last Friday morning by school children. He was lying with his face down in water and mud. Mr. Michel spent the evening down town leaving friends there about 10 o'clock. Coroner Samms gave a verdict of death byapoplexy. Mr. Michel is survived by two sons and two daughters. Mr Michel was a shoemaker and had workded at his trade here for many years. The funeral was held at the Lutheran chrch Sunday at 2p.m.. Rev Doering officiating. The burial was in the Lutheran cemetary. Article from the Versailles Republican.

TWO 89th BOYS MUSTERED OUT Uncle Jonny Thomas, one of the best known and respected old gentlemen in Pendleton, died at an early hour Tuesday morning. John W. Thomas was born in the county of Kent, England, March 8,1827, died in Pendleton, Ind., August 16, 1910; aged eighty-three years, five months and eight days. He came to New York state about the year 1842, where he married Lucy Jones. To them were born 6 children, three of who survive; Mary Louise Bodenhorn, Ben F. Riche, and Fred Anderson, the two last namved after their mother's death were adopted. Those deceased are Romain Thomas who left a widow and four children, George W. who left one son, and Sarah Sophia who died in childhood. The first wife died in 1867, and on May 7, 1868 he was married to Lydia A. Bostice, who became a mother to his children, and who with above named children and grandchildren survive. He was for many years a member of the I.O.O.F. and of the M.E. Church. Religious services at the residence Thursday at 10 a.m. were conducted by Rev. P.J. Farm Staplehurst his people came from Wales. He came to the USA about the year 1842, His brother Robert Thomas came the same year and another brother came to New York either before or soon after but all trace of him was lost. John W. Thomas married a Lucy Jones who came from England about the same time, to them was born six (6) children two of whom survive, Ben F. Riche (Frank Thomas) and Fred Anderson (Fred Thomas) who were adopted into these families after their mothers death in 1867. AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY. The Death Angel visited this community again Thursday night and called home John Lee, an aged residen here, after but a short illness with grip and the infirmities of age. Mr. Lee was born at Flemingsburg, Ky, Dec. 3, 1838 and died March 3, 1910, aged 71 years and 3 months. he came to this country in 1865 and with the exception of two years spent in Indianapolis lived here. He and his two sisters kept house until they died 11 years ago since which time he has lived with his sister, Mrs Watson Somerville and family. Mr. Lee was a carpenter by trade and a good one. He was an honest, upright man, highly respected by all. In early life he united with the UP church. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Dale of Los Angeles, Cal, and a number of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the Somerville home Saturday conducted by Revs Baldridge and Foster. Interment in Milroy cemetery.
Mrs. Mabel Walker Funeral Tuesday Funeral service for Mrs Mabel Walker, 44, of 718 East Beverly avenue will be held at 2PM Tuesday at Farmer's funeral parlors with the Rev. V.C. Mulkin of the Second Nazarene church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs. Walker died at St. Joseph Mercy hospital saturday morning after an illness of three months. Born in Leadford, Ill., June 30, 1897, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newt Epperson of Illinois. In 1929 she married Bert Walker. Mrs Walker came to Pontiac from Carry Mills, Ill., Eight years ago. Surviving are four children, Rose Marie, Barbara, Byron and Dorenda Bell Walker, all at home and one grandchild, Clarence Close.

THE MICHEL FAMILY by John J. Michel circa (1948-1952 while in High School) Charles Michel was born Aug. 26, 1894 in Tekoa Washington. His mother, Emma Wright (1865-?) died when Charles was three years old. She came from Liverpool England; she was a member of the Church of England. His father Mathias, who was born in Ripley co. Ind (1854-1936) as a young went to the west coast where he became a railroader adn helped lay the first "steel". He remarried after the death of his first wife. His father came from Bernie Switzerland, His mother's background is unknown as she is the lone survivor of an alpine landslide. She was named Abplanap after the mountain. Emma's father and mother Andrew Wright (?-1840) and ? Liddy (?-?) all belonged to the church of England. Charles came to Indiana and was married to Fern Riche, Dec 26, 1916 at Madison, Ind. On March 21, 1933 Charles and his wife Fern and their two sons, Catholic Converts, were baptised in Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. J.J. Broger.

His father, a native of Ireland, was born near Belfast about 1792, and came to America about 1801, and settled in Fleming County, Ky., but afterward removed to Decatur County, Ind., where his death occurred May 1, 1847. The mother of Mr. Sommervill was born in Fleming County, Ky., about 1792, and died in Rush County, November 22, 1860. The subject of this biography is the eldest of six children and received a common school education. In 1838, he began serving an apprenticeship at cabinet making and after completing the same, he continued this occupation for himself, about twenty years. September 1, 1842, our subject came to Rush County and settled near where he now resides. He now owns 310 acres of well improved land, and is one of the most successful farmers in this township. The marriage of Mr. Sommervill occurred September 7, 1842, toMiss Eliza Hood, born in Fleming County, Ky., October, 1819, daughter of Samuel and Isabella (Lee) Hood. To this union are three children, viz.: J. Samuel, Isabella J. and Ira A. Mr. Sommervill was formerly a Whig, but is now a Republican, and cast his first presidential vote for William H. Harrison. Isabella Lee was the daughter of Randolph Lee, the only son of William Lee of Virginia, who was descended from Richard Lee, "The Emmigrant" of the Virginia Lees. This Virginia Lee family produced such famous men as Gen. "Lighthorse" Harry Lee, Gen. Robert E. Lee and the declaration of independance signer Richard Henry Lee.
